The 2020 Tin of Lost Memories introduced us to the much-hyped Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon, but it is first and foremost a reprint set. As such, it allows players easier access to cards that were previously difficult or expensive to obtain. Let's take a look at the best reprints this tin has to offer!
#1 – Apollousa, Bow of the Goddess
Although due for another reprint in the next Gold Series soon as an alternative art, is (at the time of writing this article) the best-selling card on Cardmarket. It is a great Link Four monster that can have up to four monster negates and can fit into any deck that swarms the field with monsters. Its price is affordable now and for any deck that goes first and wants to set up a board, Apollousa is something you should really want to consider.
#2 – I:P Masquerena
Once a card that reached the €40 mark, a reprint of in a higher rarity is something many people have been waiting for. Not only is it an almost-generic Link Two monster, but its effect to link summon during the opponent's turn is a very powerful one, especially as it protects the summoned monster from being destroyed by card effects. It can also trigger some monster effects during your opponent's turn by being summoned such as or by sending cards to the graveyard for the link summoning, or help utilize a monster that would be waiting in the graveyard. For example, you can use I:P to summon , then immediately use its effect to special summon a to act as an extra negate.
#3 – Mekk-Knight Crusadia Avramax
Previously a rather pricey card, is an untargetable Link Four that almost cannot be destroyed by battle. Its price went down to about one tenth of its original price, making it very accessible to budget players. Also, who doesn't want an Avramax summoned by I:P Masquerena so it can't be destroyed by card effects in addition to everything? Let's say your opponent does manage to send it to the graveyard, it will cost them a card that will be shuffled back into the deck.
While Avramax falls down the pecking order when it comes to cards such as and Apollousa, it could see play in Mekk-Knight variants or in any deck that wants to summon a monster that is very difficult to get rid of. Depending on how the meta develops, an I:P-protected Avramax might be something necessary to consider.
#4 – Borreload Savage Dragon
Everyone's favorite level eight synchro monster finally got a much-needed reprint. The introduction of made a common sight in extra decks. An omni-negate during either players' turn with more than 3000 attack? Sign me up!
It is true that the September 2020 Forbidden and Limited List has banned and . However, there are still other tuner monsters available and strategies that do not need to rely on Halqifibrax to summon Borreload Savage Dragon. Previously a very expensive Ultra Rare, the reprint is quite affordable now in comparison and will find its way into the extra decks of a lot of people — either those who couldn't afford it, or those who want a rarity upgrade!
#5 – Cherubini, Ebon Angel of the Burning Abyss
With the new banlist, Burning Abyss recovered an extra copy of both and while seeing return to three copies. This could raise interest in playing both in pure and hybrid Burning Abyss decks. Other decks involving Phantom Knights — after the return of and in preparation for the upcoming support in Phantom Rage — could feature Cherubini as well. Overall, it is a great card that is somewhat generic for strategies relying on level three monsters like 3-Axis Dragon Link decks.
#6 – Starliege Seyfert
An important part of the Dragon Link strategy, is played as a three-of; therefore budget players welcome this reprint. It can convert any level four monster in your hand into either or or any other monster depending on the combined levels of monsters you send from hand. As an added bonus, it can banish itself from the graveyard to retrieve powerful level 8 Light/Dark monsters such as .
After the banlist, it seems like Dragon Link will be one of the best decks around. Prepare to see Seyfert helping to keep the strategy on top.
#7 –Pot of Extravagance
While the reprint did not manage to do much in terms of lowering the price of the card, is a very well-received reprint as it is one of the more expensive cards that gives value to the Mega Tin. Besides, it is a very sought-after card even with the recent reprint in Toon Chaos, one of the best draw cards ever created, and sees use in many decks. Many duelists would like to get their hands on it.
Honorable mentions go to and . Even though they got recent reprints in Duel Overload, a second reprint was very important to make the cards more accessible to players. Phantazmay is a very good hand trap against strategies that rely on Link monsters while Cynet Mining is a staple in any Cyberse deck. deserves an honorable mention as well. Orcust will slowly creep back into the competition after some decks were hit on the banlist, allowing Gizmek to once more be part of the meta. Also, Gren Maju players should be happy with this very cheap reprint.
