Daily Deck Tech Vow: Monogreen Sends 'Em Packing

Here's our vow: Every workday ahead of the set's release, Insight is taking a quick look at another deck featuring the new cards from Innistrad: Crimson Vow. Monogreen Aggro is possibly stronger than ever and just took down the Standard Challenge. A new one-drop changes a lot—and that's not even all!

Every time someone asks, "What can make this aggro deck better," the answer will usually be: a better one-drop. In this case it's . First, it's a 2/1 for one, which is already a great rate. Having a hasty trampler gives the deck this bit of reach out of nowhere that can be so crucial when the opponent has stabilized. The transform ability shouldn't matter in most games. But occassionally a 16/16 Ulvenwald Behemoth might end a massive board stall and help the team stomp the opponent to death.

To accommodate the higher curve, the extra four-drops in particular, this build employs full sets of both and . With them, Chariot and Oddity can realistically enter the fray on turn three. To make room, the deck cut down on . After all, when you spend four mana on something, it better trigger Ascendant Packleader.

Beware of Wolves!
