Daily Dynasty Deck Tech: Wandering, Marching …

Every workday while the set is new, Insight is taking a quick look at another deck featuring cards from Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty. White-Blue Control has always been a contender in Pioneer. Now the deck received a major overhaul and immediately claimed third place at the most recent Pioneer Challenge!

Everybody knows what a control deck is composed of: card draw, removal, countermagic, big threats, often planeswalkers. This deck is no different, but the number of new cards it has picked up from Neon Dynasty is actively shocking.

First, let's look at the planeswalker suite. and have been White-Blue staples across formats ever since they were printed. I don't expect the Hero ever to be pushed out from the archetype. But now there is a new colleague in , and the card already earned more slots than either of the aforementioned. It's been dubbed a flash . Well, if that description is apt, then we've got a strong card on our hands. The ability to pass the turn and flash in a walker in the end step is huge. Control rarely wants to tap out and this one allows the player not to do so. It creates bodies, is a removal spell on a stick. What's not to love?

Two are accompanied by two . Exile instead of destroy is always an upgrade, and dealing with those pesky noncreature permanents and/or graveyards can come in handy against or constructions. In fact, it can remove everything at once—except for lands and planeswalkers, so it's no coincidence that the deck is particularly heavy on those.

As far as I'm concerned the biggest upgrade comes in the form of quadruple . The main reason to pivot to Blue-Black Control had been as white never had comparably efficient removal. Now, it all changes. If need be, it can make a impression where you pitch a card to exile something more expensive. Otherwise, it's a solid scalable removal spell that can tag miscellaneous artifacts and enchantments. Between the March, Farewell, , , and Teferi's minus ability, White-Blue has now got the ability to answer almost anything, even once it's resolved.

Well, what more can I say? Hold my hand, and let's pass the turn together. Cheers!
