ONE Daily Deck Tech: Footsteps of Atraxa's Vengeance

Every workday while the set is new, Insight takes a quick look at a deck featuring the latest additions from Phyrexia: All Will Be One. Modern Reanimator was patiently waiting for another payoff to be printed. Atraxa, Grand Unifier might just be best target to get returned on turn three.

Reanimator is an archetype that aims to bring a threat directly from the graveyard to the battlefield, also known as cheating it into play. Frequently, those threats are very expensive and uncastable in a fair game. This shell utilizes as the reanimation spell of choice. It's a cheap way to reanimate a creature at instant speed. While it forces you to exile the creature at the beginning of the next end step, one can circumvent that by playing threats providing some powerful effects when they enter the battlefield.

So far, the best target in such decks has been . It allows you to draw seven or even fourteen cards immediately, attack for 7 lifelink damage, and then draw another seven cards if need be. With such a full hand, you go to the cleanup step, discard other reanimation targets for future turns, and leave behind the perfect hand. With evoke Elementals in and you have a great way to take advantage of those seemingly redundant cards drawn with Griselbrand. Whether it's the Demon or Elementals, you can them so that they stay on the field and you get more use out of them going forward.

These Goryo shells have received quite an addition with Phyrexia: All Will Be One, and that's . It dominates combat thanks to its high stats and multiple keywords. The fact that it has 7 toughness means that it does not die to , which is a relevant feature. Its trigger can draw you up to six cards in this deck. Needless to say it's an exceptionally good Ephemerate target.

In addition to the reanimation angle, the deck has multiple other aspects. There is interaction in and Solitude as well as disruption in Grief. The best ways to bin Atraxa in the first place, and , also double as excellent card selection. Goryo Reanimator is back from the grave and ready to dominate more tournaments!
