Yu-Gi-Flow: How to Stop Kashtira

With Kashtira the hottest deck of the moment, you are bound to see a lot of it at the upcoming 250th YCS events. But, as so many other best decks before it, Kashtira is never more than a few hand traps away from defeat. Here's a little infographic detailing which ones you can use, and when you should!

Note that the following doesn't show a comprehensive list but rather serves a quick reference guide for what to use your precious hand traps on best. You can find additional notes and explanations below! There's a Kashtira decklist for you as well.

Notes:

  • can stop Kashtira at most points, able to stop both and from extending, while also preventing . But in a lot of cases, it can be beneficial to just wait until the Kashtira player activates . At this point Kashtira's extension capabilities are minimal, and this will nearly always prevent them from creating .

  • negates the effects of a monster that is special summoned, and it can deal burn damage. It's a good additional tool to stop Kashtira from extending, while also representing another way to win in time.

  • is excellent against Kashtira. It can prevent Unicorn and Fenrir from adding the extenders. It can also turn off Arise-Heart's effect and force it to activate its "attach" effect for things like or .

  • is a great card to prevent Kashtira from extending further. Once they've added a card from their deck to their hand, either through any of the Kashtira core cards or via or , this card prevents them from adding any further. So unless they have everything needed in hand, they won't end on much of a board.

  • Those of you running , note: While not particularly effective against Kashtira, this card can hit their field spell, , so if you have it, use it on this!

  • prevents Kashtira from extending and from being able to interact with you on board. As Kashtira revolves around banishing cards, Lancea can be applied at almost any point, and often prevents them from even making their boss monster, .

  • is the best card for dealing with Kashtira if they go for the Three-Zone- or Five-Zone-Lock combo. Keeping Nibiru until they make Diablosis or expend their reborn effect is the best way to ensure you waste their turn and resources.
