WOE is upon us! Every workday while the set is new, Insight takes a quick look at a deck featuring the latest additions from Wilds of Eldraine. Modern may have only got a handful of playables. However, Agatha's Soul Cauldron shows up in lots of lists. Hardened Scales for one couldn't be happier!
The creature deck revolving around has lurked on the periphery of the format for a long time. It suffered a big loss when was banned, but then it received a nice boost with and other Modern Horizons cards. The main plan is to create huge and growing threats and kill the opponent by turn four or five. It also boasts high resilience to removal and ease with which it can rebuild.
The deck has a ton of interactions that require solid understanding of arithmetics, Magic rules, and timing. You can use to sacrifice your board, get to at least nine counters, put them onto and one-shot kill the opponent via infect. You can equip with to shoot down the opposing board with deathtouching pings. will happily take all the counters of a killed creature and redeploy them later on a different threat. This is just the tip of the iceberg. It's not thought of as one of the most difficult decks for no reason.
Wilds of Eldraine brought the world , which immediately found a home in Black-Green Yawgmoth. However, players overlooked another obvious deck seemingly made for a card that cares about counters and activated abilities. Once the dots were connected, rose to prominence. Whether it's Arcbound Ravager shooting the opponent down using Walking Ballista's ability or putting a counter on as if it were . It's all possible now with the Cauldron!
Not only does it make the deck stronger and trickier to play against. The deck also becomes even harder to pilot. I'm very excited to try out this chess-like Modern strategy.
