WOE is upon us! Every workday while the set is new, Insight takes a quick look at a deck featuring the latest additions from Wilds of Eldraine. Quirion Dryad is back! The updated version known as Questing Druid // Seek the Beast offers a three-for-one deal and is already doing numbers in Japan's Legacy scene.
Delver strategies are so entrenched in Legacy that it's hard to imagine a format without them. Even before was printed this sort of tempo strategy existed, using mana-denial tools in , free-ish counters in and , paired with mana-efficient threats like and . Delver's ability to have a 3/2 flying creature attacking as early as turn two, however, proved so impactful the whole archetype became named after the card.
Recent iterations of the classic let go of the old green creatures, and this new one splashes only for . It's an instant speed that doesn't last as long but offers more value by turning itself into a afterward. Reckless Impulse effects already saw play in Blue-Red Delver lists, and this bonus creature works as a kind of backward that grows with every single spell save . Green also allows access to some choice sideboard options like or .
The rest of the deck focuses on spells as mana efficient as possible, which is necessary both to take full advantage of Delver and as well as and . As the set is new, we still see variations, but staying blue-red with a mere splash seems to be the way to go.
