WOE is upon us! Every workday while the set is new, Insight takes a quick look at a deck featuring the latest additions from Wilds of Eldraine. Pia Nalaar, Consul of Revival and her flurry of hasty Thopters might finally find their way onto Standard's top tables thanks to Adventures!
is a great build-around card that relatively recently took over Pioneer. However, we might now have a viable Pia deck in Standard, thanks to Adventure cards. When you play an Adventure spell, it puts the card into exile, from which you can play it later, triggering Pia. Therefore Wilds of Eldraine has potentially had the biggest possible impact on the validity of the strategy, giving it so many new tools that work with the flagship ability!
This shell is an aggressively slanted strategy that likes to close games with beats. But it can very much play long games with planeswalkers and too. Pia works well with either plan, as you can put pressure with flying threats but also chump your way into the midgame. This approach is further bolstered by interactive elements in and , so that one is not just left hoping the opponent isn't faster.
Triggering Pia is trivially easy with this deck. and work with either requirement, namely playing lands or spells from exile, accruing card advantage throughout. The absolute best addition is , which fits the strategy as if it'd been tailor-made for it. The Adventure part is another effect that enables playing cards from exile. The creature grows with white and red spells cast, and coincidentally the entire deck fits the bill. It is going to pose a real threat to opponents and almost serves as a secondary engine creature to the build.
