Thanks to our friends at Fantasy Flight Games, we have big news for all fans of Star Wars Unlimited. We get to show off three brand-new cards from Jump to Lightspeed, the upcoming set that will heavily focus on the space aspect of Star Wars, meaning pilots, space ships, high-speed chases, and more!
Red Squadron Y-Wing
is a 2-cost heroic aggression card with a familiar stat line of 1 power and 3 HP. Its standout feature is the ability to deal 3 indirect damage to your opponent on attack. Indirect damage, a new mechanic introduced in Jump to Lightspeed, forces your opponent to distribute a specified amount of damage (in this case 3) among their base and units. This means that when Red Squadron Y-Wing launches its attack run, your opponent must contend with a total of 4 damage, not just the 1 power it directly deals. Even though your opponent is able to choose how the damage is distributed, the added pressure of 3 damage per turn can be impactful, especially when used in an aggressive deck where every bit of damage counts.
Thinking about where might find a home, the highly aggressive Sabine ECL deck seems like an obvious fit. When I first saw the card, I naturally compared it to , as both share the same cost, power, and HP, and both increase their apparent damage potential with their abilities on attack. Of course, unlike direct damage, indirect damage cannot aim for specific targets, so it might not always hit the most strategically opportune ones. That said, in the early game this can be highly disruptive, spreading damage across the board and forcing your opponent into tough decisions.
Gold Leader, Fastest Ship in the Fleet
is a new Millennium Falcon card that perfectly complements the theme of another card revealed earlier today. (Behold .) Command the Gold Group with this heroic vigilance card featuring 5 power and 5 HP. It's fairly standard on stats, but the defensive effect and built-in shield make it an interesting choice for a 6-cost space card.
The synergy with is worth noting. With seven resources and a ground unit, you can use Lando's ability to deploy and grant it an additional shield token. For your next action you can equip Lando to Gold Leader. This combination transforms Gold Leader into a formidable 10 power, 10 HP leader vehicle unit with two shield tokens and Sentinel. Even if your opponent controls a powerful ship of their own, this setup poses a significant threat that requires to be taken care of.

Nien Nunb, Loyal Co-Pilot
Our final card continues the Gold Leader and Lando theme with Lando's trusted co-pilot who assisted him during the Battle of Endor aboard the Millennium Falcon. is a 1-cost heroic command unit with 1 power, 2 HP, and an ability that boosts its power by 1 for every friendly pilot unit or upgrade in play. As one of the new units featuring the Piloting keyword, Nien Nunb can also be attached as an upgrade to a vehicle unit. When used this way, he grants the vehicle 1 additional power, 2 HP, and an extra 1 power per other friendly pilot unit or upgrade.
This versatility is a significant strength, as it ensures the card remains useful in all situations. Instead of being stuck with an upgrade that has no valid targets, you always have the option to play Nien Nunb as a unit. Versatile cards like this are incredible satisfying to play, since they allow you to adapt to board and game states and maximize your deck's potential.
rewards decks that focus on the Piloting mechanic. Nien Nunb is a cheap upgrade or unit that increases its value the further the game has progressed. Cards like these excite me because they reward focused strategies, making new mechanics more engaging and rewarding. How viable a pilot strategy will be is still unclear, but heroic pilot decks will certainly find a spot for this card and explore its full potential.
