We are counting down our favorite ways pro players have outsmarted their opponents.

Here's another one: Zombies descended upon Magic in a big way in 2012. A sizable part of the reason for their success, however, was the non-Zombie . A typical red-green deck so popular at the time simply couldn't deal with it at all, at least not without losing at least five permanents in the process.

But not much later red mages found the perfect sideboard technology to deal with Phyrexian Obliterator after all. would make the 5/5 deal 5 damage to itself, meaning it suddenly was the black player who'd sacrifice five permanents! A six-for-one trade of course meant game over on the spot. Oh, how the tables had turned.

Thursday

Judge Tower is a format where you place a giant pile of the most complicated cards in the middle of the table and hope to be the last to break the rules. The rules in this case are: You have infinite life, infinite mana, but must do everything you can, as soon as you can, or you lose the game. Will we even make it past a turn cycle?
