Nemleria is one of the new archetypes introduced in Cyberstorm Access. It is a pendulum archetype that does not really create a pendulum deck but works best in a mix with other cards. The archetype revolves around a little girl that sleeps and apparently dreams up horrible things to wreck your opponent!
No Sleep Before You Prepared to Face This Deck!
The deck's only holo card is a pendulum monster, , which ironically cannot be pendulum summoned or even normal summoned or set. It is a level one fairy monster with zero attack and 1,500 defense. So what makes this sleeping little girl so interesting? Quite simply, she is the key to everything in this deck. First, her pendulum effect allows you to place a Nemleria continuous spell card either from your deck or graveyard face up on your field before sending herself face up to the extra deck. Also, she cannot be special summoned during that same turn.
Her monster effect allows you to special summon her from your extra deck if you have no other cards there. Upon summoning, she has one of the most insane nontargeting removal effects I have ever seen. For every three of your face-down banished cards, you can banish a card face down either from your opponent's field or graveyard and then shuffle one of your face-down banished cards into your deck.
Let's break down the effect a bit to make it more clear. You have to banish all fifteen cards from your extra deck in order for Nemleria to special summon herself. This will give you the chance to banish up to five of your opponent's cards before returning the same number of cards back to your deck or extra deck. It doesn't specify that your banished cards need to be extra deck monsters. So in theory, you could run this deck with no extra deck monsters at all. This applies, for example, to strategies such as Monarchs—if you have cards to banish face down—or decks that use . However, the deck wouldn't be the same as your level ten beast monsters need to banish cards from your extra deck.
Next up, we have the continuous spell card that our sleeping beauty can search, . Its effect is to banish two face-down cards from your extra deck, with pendulum monsters not being legal targets. You may then add two level ten beast monsters with different names from your deck to your hand. Upon using this effect, you will be unable to special summon anything but pendulum monsters from your extra deck, and the search effect is a hard once per turn. Its other effect gives your Nemleria monsters protection from destruction by banishing a face-down card from your extra deck as long as you have a face-up in your extra deck.
is the other spell card of the archetype. It is a normal spell card that lets you search your deck for any Nemleria monster. If you have Dreaming Nemleria face up in your extra deck, you gain the additional effect of preventing your opponent from activating cards or effects in response to the normal or special summoning of Nemleria monsters this turn. In case you manage to summon Dreaming Nemleria, your opponent cannot respond to its effect and can only watch as their cards get banished. The card also has another effect: You may shuffle it back to the bottom of your deck from the graveyard, then target a Dreaming Nemleria on your field, and return it back to the extra deck to use it again.
A scary dream is not complete without scary monsters. The first one is , a level ten beast monster with 2,500 attack that can summon itself to the field if you have a face-up pendulum monster in your extra deck. While on the field, if Dreaming Nemleria is face up in your extra deck, Oreiller can, as a quick effect, banish a face-down monster from your extra deck to gain 500 attack for every monster your opponent controls until the end of turn. Oreiller can get very big and get rid of problematic monsters with high attack, and you don't even need to use your normal summon.
The final monster is . It has the same summoning condition as Oreiller, with both being unable to spam the board with multiple copies, which is why they are generally played as a two-ofs for the moment. As long as you have face up in your extra deck, Couette can negate any card that targets Nemleria cards you control, and you are able to banish a face-down card from extra deck, face down. The negation effect is very much welcome, especially considering you want to go second with this deck if you mix it with something like Gren Maju.
benefits from having face-down banished cards and can finish a duel instantly while helps Dreaming Nemleria by thinning the extra deck for its special summon. can also be helpful as its effect to destroy monsters requires three banished cards from the extra deck, face down. There is a lot of synergy here and both strategies mesh very well together to create a ruthless OTK machine.
The deck is interesting to explore and can catch your opponent off guard. Of course, there are other variants how to play the deck, but this one is my favorite. Also, it should get much better with the next core set, which will deliver more Nemleria support. Overall, the deck is easy and fun to play.
