ONE Daily Deck Tech: Tyvar Sacrifice

Every workday while the set is new, Insight takes a quick look at a deck featuring the latest additions from Phyrexia: All Will Be One. We got used to Jund sacrifice builds featuring Mayhem Devil. Let's explore a two-color version that has a super smooth mana base and takes full advantage of Tyvar, Jubilant Brawler!

The main premise is foreshadowed in the name of the deck. We play fodder creatures that we don't mind sacrificing, tools that allow us to sac creatures, and payoffs. This deck runs eight mana Elves that accelerate us early and, as their value diminishes, can go later. Some other expendable creatures include , 's Goat, and 's Adventure half. Strider and turn creatures into additional effects, be it scry, card draw, and/or mana. Finally, and drain the opponent when that happens.

In order to maintain a board presence and keep things going, we play , which easily rebuilds our battlefield. You can put four creatures onto the field seemingly out of nowhere. Consequently, point removal leaves a lot to be desired against this strategy as it kills half of a card and sometimes even triggers beneficial effects.

What this deck has got that truly boosted its power is . Literally each effect is super relevant in this shell. First, the passive allows you to use mana Elves and, most importantly, Priest of Forgotten Gods as soon as they enter. Speaking of Priest, Tyvar's +1 ability makes it so that Priest can be used immediately twice! Last but not least, most creatures meet the minus ability's condition, so you get a lot of flexibility in which creature you return. Should you happen to return Priest, you can of course activate it right off the bat as well.

A clean two-color mana base combined with card advantage and a ton of neat interactions make this deck an excellent choice if you love creature combo-esque decks.
