The monster world has multiple storylines for us to explore. Card artwork offers great insight into key moments in the adventures of multiple well-known monsters. This time we depart from the Different Dimension and look at battles in the main dimension—in particular those of Marauding Captain.

This article is part of a series on the lore of the Yu-Gi-Oh! monster world. The first one was about (link the first article in her name?) and the second about more cards. As always, I want to clarify two things. The articles will only cover cards released in the TCG. Additionally, this is my interpretation of the story told through those cards. Yours might be the same or completely different, so take them with a grain of salt.
O Captain! My Captain!
Our story's protagonist is a very famous warrior monster, one who has led his allies to many victories. That monster is of course . I find it impossible that you have never heard of him before. But even if you have not, he has already appeared in this series. He made a brief cameo as a partner of .
The Captain has many feats in his record. One of them is the elimination of the . In a one-man mission, he infiltrated their , catching the goblins . Their defeat was so fierce that they decided to make a squad of their own based on the himself.
He can do this all day
His previous achievement might seem small, considering the weak defense of the goblins. The Captain, however, has fought enemies way bigger and more powerful than him. In fact, he has fought right inside . However, the Archfiend managed to damage him . The Captain barely escaped and returned back to his comrades .
He doesn't always go solo though. He is not a lone warrior. In fact, he is part of a bigger army. An army that, unfortunately, has to obey to the rule of a horrible or tyrant, depending on how you look at it. Despite that, he is always for his allies, especially army, him in battle.
The Good
In order to move on with the story, it is necessary to give you a small introduction to allies. I'm going to do the same for his enemies and other characters appearing in his story. Most, if not all of them, have interesting backstories.
One of the captain's loyal friends is . The truth is that we do not know much about his past. He is certainly under the rule and gives reports to the same as the Captain does though. Moreover, at some point in his life, he had to move a humongous from the inside of a . Those fissures serve as portals to the Different Dimension.
Another ally is his matchless general, . But before we talk about the times when he and the Captain fought side by side, we need to go back a few years. Prior to becoming a general, wandered the land to find his purpose. He had plenty of battles, but through his , he remained irreproachable, grew in rank, and became the general we all know. As the soldier of the highest rank, he every attack and his army in battle.
He is not only an ally, he is a cook and a leader too
Additionally, is not just a simple ally or friend. He is much more than that. He is a for the entire squad. Freed and Rahz are waiting for him to prepare his excellent meals. Same goes for two more warriors who are part of the . is also sneaking to get some of his delicious food. He is also a leader who his troops in the hardest moments of the battle.
Nevertheless, all armies do not only consist of warriors. An army needs a , too. is always there to medically his allies, but also help them return back to .
The Bad
It's time to talk about the monsters has fought. The first of them is a gruesome creature coming directly from the . At first, it was just a mere threat, a small creature coming out of a . However, the zombie grew in and began attacking the human army. was the first warrior to the monster, but to no avail.
After, probably, defeating Grepher, Despair the Captain. As they were in a , the Captain was no match for the evil zombie. But he was not alone. Help was on the way and it was coming with a charge. , riding his horse and with his sword in his hand, just in time. Together, they defeated the undead creature.
Two more villains appear in storyline. The first one is a very powerful fiend, . Nothing is known about his past, but he has clashed with our heroes in a fierce battle. We haven't learned much about this battle yet.
The sinister three
The other one used to be a , until one day it was cut down and possessed by an evil spirit. At this initial form, it tested its strength against one of its . Afterwards, it attacked the Captain, but he was for him. Even with that attack, the monster somehow managed to survive. It is speculated that had something to do with this, turning it into a flaming .
Plenty of times, Inpachi has fought with our heroes, too. However, we are not going to analyze those events in this section. There is something else that is essential to be added here. It is clear, not only from this storyline, that there are multiple timelines in the monster world. In one of them, did not fight our friends, as we will learn later. Instead, it was by a karate chop from . Later, similarly to the aftermath of our original timelines, the broken pieces of were recovered by . This time, he added metal parts to the tree monster, turning it into . However, it was still no match for the outlaw, who destroyed it again with a .
The Ugly
The last character who takes part in this storyline is . He is not an ally of the Captain, nor is he an opponen. He is more like a frenemy, a kind of an anti-hero in this saga. But before we learn more about his fights as Gagagigo, as well as his future, we need to take a deep dive into his past.
At a young age, Gagagigo was just . A small normal monster, he hung out with others of his . His gang consisted of him, , , , and of course, . However, Gigobyte's crew got into trouble. They messed with the wrong beasts and got by .
The stubborn little monsters did not give up after their defeat. They gathered as much as they could and . After these events, the group disbanded. Later in life, Gigobyte partnered with a . Similarly, his old also bonded with a . A weird about future shook him up a bit, but he continued to accompany his charmer for many .
As time passed, kid Gigobyte turned into a teenager . He obviously never left his charmer's and they experienced many adventures together.
They grow up so fast
At some point, with the help of Eria, he unlocked more of his powers, becoming . Later, similarly to the other charmer monsters, they with their respective partners.
After the awakening and his parting with Eria, he grew up even more, becoming . As mentioned before, Gagagigo was sneaking into the human , but they go back much further. Prior to interacting with the humans, Gagagigo made a out of the at . However, the lizard did not always have the upper hand against his enemies. Once he was captured by the in order to be used as a for the of . was conducting their evil ritual, but was there to their plan.
This was probably when and where Gagagigo met the humans. His initial interaction with the Captain was pleasant, but it was not the same with Freed. The and the only once, as a appeared between them, sending Gagagigo to the Different Dimension. Strangely enough, their rivalry was so intense that they could see each other beyond . We have no idea about what the anthropomorphous lizard did in there, but we do know that he managed to .
The Epic Showdown
The combatants are set and the biggest battles of this saga are about to unfold before your very eyes. The first big encounter of our heroes with the villains starts with the return of . But before we jump right into this battle, it is mandatory to note that Gagagigo had a change of heart and decided to join the human force. That is because he cruelty.
The burning tree monster both Gagagigo and the Captain. The duo got the upper hand until the monstrous tree tried to surprise attack Gagagigo with a fireball. Without giving it a second thought, the Captain got in the , protecting his friend. That was an important moment in their relationship.
While fighting Inpachi, out of the blue, appeared and attacked the Captain's troops. In an selfless act, Gagagigo the with his own body, just like did for him. Afterwards, the two friends joined forces against the united . Their battle was fierce, but they were unable to beat the evil entities. Feeling powerless, Gagagigo decided to flee the battle.
Under the of the Captain, the humans kept fighting the monsters with everything they had. At the same time, Gagagigo turned to a nefarious in order to become stronger. Despite the from his , Kozaky still attempted to the powers of the lizard. His experiment failed and Gagagigo went . In a last-ditch effort to stop the monster he created, Kozaky used an to send .
An epic ending to a epic saga
While berserk, Giga Gagagigo some . Then he found a that led him back to the battlefield. Instead of attacking the monsters though, he went straight onto . Freed the attack and the lizard severely. That caused Giga Gagagigo to gather even more rage, increase in , and become even more violent.
In his mindless rampage, the oversized Gagagigo defeated both Inpachi and the Invader with ease. In fact, he tore the former in half and just squished the latter with his claws. He was not going to stop there though. He even tried to attack Freed again. Selflessly, the Captain stepped in the way, trying to make his friend come back to his . Somehow, this helped and an unknown separated them. That force purified Gogiga Gagagigo, turning him into his ultimate .
We do not know more about Gagagigo's future. , on the other hand, suffered from a and later fell through a strange . His current whereabouts are unknown.
Conclusion
