As one famous horror movie villain used to say, "Let's play a game …" The game goes like this: We show you Magic artwork, but everything except the eyes is covered in darkness. You try to identify the cards, and if you're successful and fast at it, you win Cardmarket credit. For a better idea of what to expect, and as practice, take a look at the following example. Because this is a mere test run, the graphic will give away the full artwork when you move your mouse cursor over it.

This one is of course pretty easy to figure out, thanks to an abundance of eyes and a very literal interpretation of the card's name. Why, it's a

Contest Rules
Important: Don't edit your comments after posting!
Below you can find 40 illustrations from across the game's history, all changed in the way described above. If you recognize any of them, log in to your Cardmarket account (see the bar at the top of this page) and post a comment with the card's name (at the bottom of this page). The first person who correctly identifies each card wins a prize. Ideally you should use full English card names, though as long as there's no ambiguity, we won't disqualify a correct answer because of a minor misspelling or because it's all lowercase or suchlike. However, since the time of posting is relevant, we will disqualify all comments edited after submission. Don't update your comment if you're worried about a typo or other error — just post a new comment!
Don't list a bunch of random card names in the hopes of hitting a correct one by sheer volume. Some Magic illustrations may look similar to one another, but we will disqualify all comments where the ratio of incorrect guesses to correct guesses is worse than 4:1.
You can pick any card from the line-up at any given moment. You can put multiple card names into one comment, you can post multiple comments at different times, and you can claim multiple prizes either way. Note though that the system may prevent you from posting two comments within one minute. You can specify which image or images you're referring to (they're all numbered), but you don't have to. You can also use the comment section to leave feedback on the contest itself or general thoughts or speculation about the cards, or whatever. I myself will use the comment section to post summaries of all cards that are taken and all that are left at certain intervals. Whatever you do, just don't edit your comments.
This contest runs until all cards have been found or until the end of Wednesday (November 4, 11:59 p.m. CET). We will take inventory of all unedited comments on the following day and award prizes then.
Prizes
Some of these illustrations should be easy to identify, some somewhat harder, and a few may prove fiendishly tough or even impossible to figure out. We don't necessarily know which are which, but we have a prize scheme that accounts for differences in difficulty, assuming that the more tricky images will require more time:
- The first six cards to be identified each come with a prize of €1.
- The next six cards to be identified each come with a prize of €2.
- The next six cards to be identified each come with a prize of €3.
- The next six cards to be identified each come with a prize of €4.
- The next six cards to be identified each come with a prize of €5.
- The next six cards to be identified each come with a prize of €6.
- The final four cards to be identified each come with a prize of €7.
